Fragments of Memory is a visceral and physically demanding dance piece driven by pulsing undercurrents of emotions. Taiwan Cloudgate choreographer Cheng Tsung-lung has created a work that pushes the physical boundaries of contemporary dance to unleash the inner dialogue and turmoil found within.

About the Artists

Maggi Sietsma– Choreographer – On Thin Ice

Maggi's choreographic debut was at the prestigious Spoleto Festival in Italy . She subsequently founded the multi-media performing ensemble 'Muance' which toured the major cities of Europe . Moving to Australia in 1982, Maggi became resident choreographer of the North Queensland Ballet Company. From 1983 to 1987, Maggi was a lecturer in dance at the Brisbane College of Advanced Education (now QUT). In 1995, Maggi founded Expressions Dance Company.

As director and choreographer Maggi places great emphasis on research and collaboration and in her work she frequently re-examines the roles and relationships of men and women within our society. Since 1985, she has created over thirty works for the Company and under Maggi's direction Expressions has won several awards including the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award, Australia 's most prestigious performing arts award. In 2003, Maggi was awarded a Centenary Medal for her work with dance and society, and became the recipient of a Churchill Fellowship. http://www.expressions.org.au

Cheng Tsung-lung – Choreographer – Fragments of Memory

A choreographer and former dancer of Cloudgate Dance Theatre, CHENG graduated from Taipei University of the Arts (TNUA) in 2002. He has performed in LIN Hwai-mim's Cursive , Cursive II, Legacy, Smoke, Moon Water, and Bamboo Dream and toured with the company internationally. CHENG started choreographing while studying at TNUA. In 2005, his work White Adhesives , was presented at the "World Dance Alliance Asia-Pacific International Conference" and acclaimed as "the most outstanding dance of the year." He started choreographing for Cloudgate II in 2006, and created Memory in TNUA, which was later presented in the Hong Kong Dance Festival 2006. In 2006, CHENG's Tete Beche won the Bronze Medal of the New Ballet -1st International Choreographic Competition Ludwigshafen 2006.He created Fragment of Memory for Expressions Dance Company in 2007. In 2008, Cheng will create Transformation for Cloudgate II and a new work for Transition Dance Company of the Laban Center .
