About the Program

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Guangdong Modern Dance Festival, it's time for a party! Chinese Environmental Dance pioneer Pun Siu-fai will turn the Headquarters of Ogilvy Guangzhou into a fair ground of dreams. Guangdong Modern Dance Company will conjure scenes from classic movies of romance, desire and heroism in the spectacular setting of Xinyi Huiguan by the Pearl River. Grab a beer and join the party crowd of modern dance professionals and fanatics to explore the merry-go-round of make-believe. Attention: it gonna be hot.

About the Artist

Pun Siu-fai, artistic director of the Guangdong Modern Dance Company( www.gdmdc.com ). An ex-dancer of the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC), Pun received the Asian Cultural Council Fellowship and the Rotary International Scholarship to study dance in New York . Pun returned to CCDC in 1993 to develop the company's education and outreach programs. During this period, Pun established CCDC II and produced the "Podium Dance Project" to stage environmental performances at universities and colleges in Hong Kong . In 1998, Pun embarked on the Environmental Dance Series by Pun Siu-fai ; and successfully transformed historical sites such as the Old Tai Po Market Railway Station, the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower, and the Sam Tung UK Museum into new performance spaces. In 2000, Pun was commissioned to create the site-specific spectacle for the opening of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. Pun was appointed artistic director of the Guangdong Modern Dance Company in August, 2007. His latest works Blue Picasso (2007) and Men Talk (2008) were warmly welcomed by the audience.
