The play is perhaps the best-known pieces by the Nobel Prize winner and Italian dramatist Dario Fo. Meng Jinghui is one of the greatest drama directors in China and had previously adapted it in 1998. The Chinese version soon became the perfect example of show combining comedy and commercial success.

"Accidental Death of an Anarchist" tells the story of the police interrogation and investigation into the death of an anarchist. A great number of dramatic elements such as dialogues, movie clips and singing have been used in this adaptation, bringing audiences to think about reality, to criticize and reflect on human nature.
