Even though you may be unable to understand Cantonese, the Cantonese opera show staged at Nanfang Theater is definitely a show you can't miss when traveling through Guangzhou. Recognized as a cultural heritage by UNESCO, Cantonese opera is a visual feast with incredible costumes and body language.

The performance is presented by the Guangzhou Opera House, and they have chosen a variety of extracts from the most representative Cantonese operas. The show doesn't require any background information about Cantonese opera, but for those who are interested, don't hesitate to ask around you for an explanation, Cantonese people are always willing to talk about the plays.
