Stan Lai, an American-born Taiwanese stage director famous for his bitter-sweet Secret Love In Peach Blossom Land is an iconic character in the theatrical world.
A small village in Taiwan named Juan Cun (眷村) is where Kuomintang soldiers and their families fled to at the end of the Chinese civil war in 1949 and this is where the story is set. As their children and their children's children set their roots on this land, Taiwan becomes home, a home where various accents are always heard and which slowly develops into a remarkable tribe.
The drama depicts the lives of four families throughout five decades which saw tremendous changes in greater China. But Juan Cun is also a symbol of old Taiwanese culture and is won't be without a little nostalgia that middle-agers will be faced with the memories of village life.

The troupe will debut their Chinese mainland tour on January 5th, 2010 in Guangzhou before travelling to five other cities in February. For mainlanders, The Village offers a window to experience Taiwanese culture whilst discovering the remarkable style of Stan Lai.
