The U.K. leading a cappella assemble will be in Guangzhou this June with an exceptional performance combining folk music, 20th century classical music and even a taste of jazz. Founded in 1965 in Cambridge, the King's Singers continues to be one of the most sought-after vocal ensembles in the world. On stage in Guangzhou shall be two countertenors (David Hurley and Timothy Wayne-Wright), a tenor (Paul Phoenix), two baritones (Philip Lawson and Christopher Gabbitas), and a bass (Stephen Connolly). The ensemble is the "Prince Consort Ensemble in Residence" at The Royal College of Music in London, and holds a bi-annual summer course and residency at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

The theme chosen for their Asian tour was romance. The King's Singers will open with much-loved Celtic folksongs and then move on to love songs from the start of the 20th century by composers Elgar, Bairstow and Saint-Saens. In the second half they shall sing Masterpiece, a comic medley through the history of western classical music before finishing with some extracts of the ensembles new jazz-inspired studio album.
