Route of Olympic Torch Relay in GZ Unveiled

From 1 April, the Olympic torch of Beijing Games will start to go around the world. GZ is also part of the global trip.

According to the plan, the torch will arrive in Guangzhou on 7 May. And the whole journey in the city will be 43 kilometers lasting for 11 hours.

On that day, the torch will start its trip in the city at 8:18am, from the square in front of Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Centre, passing by Baiyun Mountain, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall, Beijing Lu and other famous interests of places in Guangzhou with local characteristics.

During the 11 hour trip, there will be totally 208 torchbearers, including the Olympic champions of Guan Weizhen, Yang Jinghui and Chen Weiqiang who are from Guangzhou.

Actually during the fireseed runs in Guangzhou, another Olympic fireseed may be also going to top of the Mount Everest at the same time. That means there will be two Olympic fireseeds at the same time, which is against the rules.

So when the torch starts to top the Mount Everest, the torch passing in Guangzhou may have to stop. Details are still to be determined.

Besides Guangzhou, the Olympic torch will also go to Shenzhen, Huizhou and Shantou in Guangdong during 7 to 10 May.
