The personal income of urban residents in Guangdong Province in the first half this year registered a year-on-year rise of about 10%, according to the provincial authority's recent statistics, Southern Metropolis Daily reports.
But the majority of the interviewed locals do not feel the 'official rise'.

The Disposable Income Per Capita in urban areas reached 11,300 RMB (1657 USD) in the first half, up by 9.8% from 2008. The monthly Cash Income Per Capita in countryside amounted to 3,741 RMB (549 USD), up by 7.7% from last year.
Among the 18 people interviewed in Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shaoguan, and Heyuan, only 4 said they felt the increase. Five thought the income dropped, however, while others remarked 'no feeling'.
A statistics official explained that the rise was mainly attributive of the increase of teachers' salary and allowance in some regions, pension, and the living security bottom-line by some local governments.
The average Transferring Income Per Capita of urban residents chalked up a 20% surge, which was also a major contribution.
