Life of Guangzhou - British Author Publishes Second Book on China

After the success of his first travel book on China (Newcomers Handbook: China: Including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen", First Books, 2008), Navjot Singh, from London, has published his second book "China: Business Travellers Handbook" (Stacey International, U.K., 2009).

Navjot's new book is part of a series of other travel guides called the "Gorilla Guides". The Gorilla Guides have already been widely acclaimed by Chambers of Commerce and the export desks at Trade Partners UK. Each guide is written by a highly experienced author with extensive, practical knowledge of the target market. They are the only mainstream publications to focus exclusively on business travel. Produced in handy pocket format, the guides include a series of maps, historical information, industry overviews, information on setting up a permanent operation, plus a city-by-city tour of the country.

Navjot Singh not only writes confidently of the larger economic and commercial issues, but he also shed's light on the nitty-gritty detail of day-to-day realities of living and working in China. This information is highly useful for senior corporate executives who are going to China on a regular basis for business.

Going to another country for the first time, whether for business or pleasure, can be a daunting experience – especially if you are going on a long-term basis, and have to relocate with your family in order to make that new country your second home. For most foreign people, China is probably not an easy place to adapt to because of cultural differences, language barriers and just the fact that it's so far away from Europe and the Americas that people automatically fear the remoteness and isolation. Navjot initially went to Hong Kong and Mainland China in the early part of 2002 for a short one-week holiday. However, like other expats, he was astonished by the place that he ended up living there for over five years as a corporate expat. Navjot has had first hand experience of the benefits and challenges of being an expatriate in China and he continues to travel to the Greater China region for business and pleasure.

Navjot is a freelance journalist and contributes occasionally to various media applications (including the "Weekly Telegraph" among other). He spends his time between London, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
