AmCham South China Delegation to Ink $2B in Deals at CIFIT

Updated Beijing Time
A 150-strong group of American companies in China has joined with 60 companies from the U.S. states of Maryland, California and Georgia to form what is believed to be the largest single delegation at CIFIT, the American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China) announced today.

Leading the delegation, AmCham South China president Harley Seyedin told reporters that across the 210 companies in attendance, the minimum the value of new deals signed by delegates at the 14th CIFIT was likely to exceed USD 2billion.

By the end of the fair, the AmCham South China delegation will have hosted the “AmCham South China Roundtable: IP, Innovation, Cooperation” with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs Robert Hormats, attended the 2nd World Investment Forum and co-hosted the “U.S.-China Enterprises Investment Cooperation Forum on Low Carbon Technology” along with the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, the Investment Promotion Agency of the P.R.C. Ministry of Commerce and Xiamen Foreign Investment Bureau.

The delegation, which is now in its eighth consecutive year and which in 2006 received the “Great Contribution to CIFIT” award from former Vice Premier Wu Yi, last year signed a total value of more than USD1 billion in new investment deals. This year its members are scheduled to meet with senior representatives from Fujian, Guangxi, Shandong, Sichuan, and Chongqing. As in past years the delegation represents a wide range of industries, including high-tech manufacturing, machinery, construction, foodstuffs, testing, HR consulting, legal services, financial services and green energy technology.

Finally, AmCham South China will once again also be hosting its annual “Rooftop Cocktail Reception,” which has in the past been attended by provincial governors, ambassadors, international board members of Fortune 500 companies and a host of other dignitaries, in addition to offering its hundreds of guests a pristine and unsurpassed nighttime view of the historic Gulangyu settlement.
