Sino-French Lectures & Exhibitions on Astronomy

2009 is the International year of Astronomy and to mark the event the Consulate General of France in Guangzhou is organizing a lecture and two exhibitions on the subject. Mr. Alai Vienne, the director of Lille Observatory in France and professor of Astronomy at Lille 1 University will deliver a lecture named “The Solar System from Mercury to Neptune…and beyond” at the Alliance Francaise in Guangzhou this October.
When: 17:00 on Thursday, October 31, 2009 Where: Alliance Francaise, No. 12 Jiaochang Bei Heng Lu, Guangzhou Language: French, Mandarin Topic: The Sun, Mercury, Neptune and stars beyond, the characteristics of these stars as well as the infinite changes and spatial extent of the Solar System; The location of the solar system within the Galaxy and the location of the Galaxy in the universe.
In addition, the Alliance Francaise will hold two exhibitions on the topic in November: 1. “The Solar System” organized by Paris Observatory and authorized by the French National Academy of Sciences; 2. “Exploring the Universe” hosted by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
