As a key school of football sports, Peizheng has repeatedly won the Mayor Cup champion.
Peizheng Middle School, founded in 1889, is one of the century-old famed schools in Guangzhou. The construction of a new campus in Dongshan District started in 1907. Branch schools began to mushroom in Hong Kong and Macao since the 1930s. Recent years the increasing exchanges between Peizheng schools in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao have greatly promoted the development of teaching.
Ever since the 1950s, Peizheng Middle School has gained fame in sports, with football as its strongest point. Bunches of football talents have been sent to the National Team.
Famous football players such as Su Yongshun, Chen Songyang, Peng Weiguo and Ou Chuliang were turned out right in the school.
Of the ten Guangzhou Apollo football players in the game, seven received their trainings in Peizheng. "Embrace the Olympics with what the school does well—play football game, that's really something." said Li Shaofeng, a retired International Football Referee from the glorious school as well.
As a key school of football sports, Peizheng has repeatedly won the Mayor Cup champion, the first and second place of the Coca Cola Cup. The newly formed women softball team was the winner of Dongfeng Cup of Guangzhou city.
A gigantic-sized stamp mosaic named From Athens to Beijing was on display in Peizheng Middle School. The mosaic is 20.08 meters long and 2.3 meters high, in which 26 landmarks of Olympic cities are composed by thousands of used stamps.
The number 20.08 is a deliberate coincidence signifying the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Nearly 10,000 teachers and students from Peizheng schools in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, Wuzhou and Taishan have taken part in the stamp colleting.
As revealed, the concept and design of the works are created by Mr. Zhou Yaoqi, a famous Olympics collector in Hong Kong. The 82-year-old was a graduate from Yan Organization, Guangzhou Peizheng Middle School.
