Guangzhou's Fist Traffic Policewomen Start Service Outfield

 
The first traffic policewomen of Guangzhou, South China began their outdoor service in downtown yesterday, and are well-received by the Chinese and foreign public.

The policewomen are grouped into two squads, each with 15 members.

One squad takes charge of the traffic management around the two venues of Canton Fair, Liuhua and Pazhou complexes, with each duty shift of 10 minutes. 

据了解，交警部门此次共成立了两个女警中队，每个中队配备15名女警。
正式上岗的前一阶段，机动大队女子中队主要参与广交会两个展馆的交通疏导指引工作，共负责当中的4个岗亭，每数十分钟轮换一次。

The other are assigned to the traffic posts in Jixiang Lu, Yuehua Lu and Fazheng Lu around the city hall, and even to daily outfield patrol on motorbikes.

越秀大队的女子中队除了要到中山吉祥路口、越华法政路口站交通岗外，还要骑上女式警用摩托负责部分日常巡逻的任务。

Some fair visitors thought the ladies were beautiful "landscapes" of the city, and they could make the police communication friendlier and easier to accept for the public.

很多广交会来宾都说女交警是城市里一道亮丽的风景，她们的亲切让严肃的交通指挥变得更人性化，而且让公众更易于接受。

Some 80% of the 30 ladies have bachelor degrees, and almost everyone speak fluent English. Some are even pursuing master degree.

Sun Yanqiong, a pretty policewoman from Urumchi, Xinjiang, reckons "Patrol on road is a sort of challenge I like."

此次女子中队的30名女交警里，80%有本科学历，几乎人人都能说一口流利的英语，其中还有女警正在攻读硕士研究生。

Hong Ye, a BA of Law from Sun Yat-sen University, said "I don't mind I am regarded as a kind of decoration like jardinière." She speaks the best English in this women section.

“我不介意人家看我做花瓶”，说这话时，洪叶一脸的坦然，两年前从中山大学法律系本科毕业的她对自己的能力有着十足的自信。

Officer Tan Xiao graduated from the Guangzhou-based Xinghai Conservatory of Music, with hard-earned Band 10 Piano Playing Certificate. She also masters motorbike diving and fighting skills after one-month intensive trainings.

This pianist and "Ms. Genius" has to use sun cream before her duty of "conducting" traffic at crossroads everyday. "The sunlight is very strong to me when I stand at the outdoor post."

谭笑是女子中队中公认的"才女"，星海音乐学院音教系钢琴专业毕业的她拿着钢琴10级证书进入交警支队工作。，"女强人"每次上岗前同样要大擦防晒霜，"站在中间的马路岗亭上实在是太晒啦"。
