The Guangzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau says that recipients of Guangzhou medical insurance living in other cities of Guangdong province will have more choices of hospitals. Insurants who have registered for long-term medical treatment service in other cities within the province will no longer have to choose from a limited number of local hospitals to gain medical reimbursement.

China has established a health care system that helps people to enjoy medical insurance in different cities or provinces, and many hospitals already have connected to the system.

The insurants are required to register for one to three connected hospitals as the only hospitals where they can enjoy Guangzhou city medical insurance in another city. Now, the bureau is seeking more convenient and efficient ways to provide better experiences for insurants.

Insurants have more hospitals to choose in a different province

Guangzhou has already cancelled the regulation that insurants must register with a limited number of hospitals before receiving treatment with the city’s medical insurance in a different province. Insurants can now settle their bills with medical insurance in all local hospitals that have been connected to the system.

Insurants will no longer have to register for a limited number of hospitals to enjoy Guangzhou City medical insurance. They now can apply for medical reimbursement in all connected hospitals in other cities. More hospitals will continue to be added to the system.

Other conveniences for GZ medical insurants

Insurants will no longer have to get the approval of the local hospitals and medical insurance organizations before settling their bills with medical insurance. And when people are filing the new version of the application form for receiving medical treatments in other places, the seal of the employing units (as an identification) will no longer be needed.
