The first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Arts and Crafts Expo will be held from September 7 to 9 at Guangzhou's Pazhou International Exhibition Center, according to a press conference held Monday.

The expo is being co-hosted by the Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Guangqing Holding Group Co., Ltd., and Guangdong Arts and Crafts Association, aiming to boost the development of traditional arts and crafts.

People can visit the WeChat account, "Art Basket (gh_e9f80fbf32ee)," to get free tickets to attend the event.

Here are five boutique events at the expo.

1. A fashion show with ICH elements

On the morning of September 7, a fashion show that combines intangible cultural heritage (ICH) with fashion will be held at the exhibition center. Twenty models will walk the runway to show off clothes made of Gambiered Canton gauze, a unique summer-weight material that became popular in the 1940s and 1950s south of the Five Ridges - the area spanning Guangdong and Guangxi. Its dyeing and finishing process goes through 14 steps and is safeguarded by the Government and the cultural community. The show will focus on the display, publicity and promotion of cultural heritage products.

2. An exchange forum

On the afternoon of September 7, an exchange forum on exploring arts and crafts in the bay area from the aspects of innovative design and industrial upgrading will be held in Hall 5.2 of the exhibition center. A number of well-known guests will conduct cross-border exchanges to inject vitality into the arts and crafts industry and explore development possibilities.

3. The curator shows you around the expo

During the opening ceremony on September 7, Kong Zhaoming, the curator of the Guangdong Arts and Crafts Treasures Museum, will serve as a guide and take five attendees to visit the expo. Five attendees will be decided by a lucky draw and will have the chance to interact with the curator and learn about the production story behind the craft and art treasures.

4. Face-to-face interaction with master craftsmen

From September 8 to 9, at 5.6 Hall at the center, several well-known arts and crafts masters in fields such as Canton embroidery, Guangcai porcelain firing and paper-cutting will be present to demonstrate their skills.

5. Smart exhibition: scanning a QR code to appreciate the online exhibition

The expo will be integrated with the internet platform to create smart exhibitions using electronic and digital technologies. Audience can easily enter and enjoy smart life with just one mobile phone. In terms of feedback, viewers can vote for their favorite master works in the WeChat account, "Art Basket (gh_e9f80fbf32ee)".
